Ellen De Flora joined Blue Ridge Pediatrics, LLP in July 1995 after completing her Pediatric Gastroenterology fellowship at the University of North Carolina. Prior education includes a Pediatric internship and residency at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, VA and medical school at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, TX. She graduated Magna cum Laude from Old Dominion University with a major in biology.

Dr. De Flora has been board certified since 1992 and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. She was drawn to pediatrics due to an interest in growth and development of children.

Dr. De Flora is married, has two wonderful active children and spends most of her time outside of work transporting the kids from one event to another event. Additionally, she enjoys walking her dog, reading, knitting, board games (especially Scrabble and Settlers of Catan!), beating everyone at Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune and being with friends and family.

Dr. De Flora also finds time to regularly donate blood to the American Red Cross and is a member of the James Herriot Society of the Animal Protection Society of Durham.
